People give hr French a lot of shit, but that's not exactly fair. In 1940, the French army was a good army that had equal or better equipment than the Germans. The individual soldier was good, but had poor leaders. Regardless, they did fight, to the best of their ability. It was their leadership that failed. Alternately, the Dutch fought for literally a few hours, and we never hear anyone badmouth them. The French army is quite capable. The world should remember this. |
