Not a widely circulated fact about US gun laws: You can't legally possess, own, transfer or manufacture an automatic weapon, short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, silencer or destructive device without a case-by-case basis evaluation from the BATF.

I've gone through the process for three NFA items since ~15 years ago. I worked at an indoor range for 3+ years. You most definitely cannot just walk into an American gun shop and buy an automatic weapon and to imply such is an exercise in demonstrating your extreme lack of knowledge of US gun laws.

"Could've" is a contraction of the words COULD and HAVE. The "'ve" does a stellar job of illustrating that. The word of is absolutely not the same thing as the word have so "could of" is lazy, sloppy and wrong.
