Personally, I would have gave rocketman an ak and sent him and 1 other to the opposite side.

At that point, space the 2 on each side out ~10ft , and make sure everyone knows to start with the people on the outside of the road so they can't head into the brush for concealment.

The aim is to hit at the beginning of the ambush. Not necessarily to kill. Once they're all down, you can advance with walking fire to disable the remainder who might be firing back.

I won't say their method was ineffective, it clearly was effective, but one prepared guy with a burst of good machine gun fire would easily wound or disable 2 of the guys bunching up. That's radically disadvantageous.

Your tactics is surely ok.
But those are monkeys with guns, they cannot even read and write, and you pretend from them to know or use tactics?

Personally I'd have taught that raggle taggle bunch of cunts how to fire a rifle before I went anywhere near a battlefield with them.

Plus they were effective the other side were idiots walking in a bunch and no scouts out like that not even flank security or rear guard to back them up.
