Zim Kingston Loses 40 Containers, Later Catches Fire
The U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards responded after the container ship Zim Kingston lost 40 containers in the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. The ship was traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia, when it listed 35 degrees in heavy weather. A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles MH-65 Dolphin located 35 of the containers in the water. The Zim Kingston was moored near Victoria, British Columbia, on Saturday, Oct. 23, and caught fire a day after losing the containers while moored about five nautical miles from Victoria.
