Two Men and Dog Rescued from Atrevida II After 10 Days Adrift
The Hong Kong-flagged tanker Silver Muna spotted and recovered two men and their dog from the sailboat Atrevida II in the Atlantic Ocean on Dec. 13, 2022. The boaters had been lost at sea for 10 days and had drifted for days along the East Coast without power or fuel. They were later transferred from Silver Muna to Coast Guard Station New York in New York Harbor on Dec. 14, 2022. Coast Guard and FDNY members welcomed the boaters and their rescuers at Coast Guard Station New York on Staten Island. Captain of the Port Capt. Zeta Merchant met the boaters, who were reunited with family and friends.
