Myrtle Hazard Rescues Two Between Guam and Rota

The crew of USCGC Myrtle Hazard (WPC 1139), aboard the cutter's small boat, rescued two mariners from the water about halfway between Guam and Rota at midday on Feb. 9, 2023.

A Guam Army National Guard UH-72 Lakota helicopter crew had initially found the debris and vectored the small boat into the debris field. The helicopter crew then continued searching for a third missing mariner.

The response began after a mayday call from the master of the 42-foot vessel Senor Dung on Feb. 8. Other federal and local responders were also involved.
