Man Hoisted from Aground Sailboat on Charleston Jetties
A man was rescued Nov. 2, 2023, after his 31-foot sailboat ran aground on the Charleston jetties near Charleston, South Carolina, and began taking on water. A Coast Guard Station Charleston boat crew was on scene, but unsafe conditions kept the crew from safely removing the operator from the sailboat. A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah helicopter crew hoisted the man and transported him to Charleston Executive Airport in Johns Island. A Station Charleston boat crew surveyed the aground sailboat on Nov. 3.
