Coast Guard Rescues 3 Boaters in Tropical Storm Alex
The Coast Guard and partner agencies rescued three boaters on June 6, 2022, about 395 miles southeast of Virginia Beach, during Tropical Storm Alex. Air Station Elizabeth City launched an HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew. The Hercules crew arrived first, found the vessel, and saw that its main mast was broken. Those aboard were on deck signaling with flashlights. The Hercules crew dropped a radio to establish communications.
