Coast Guard Rescues 11 Haitian Migrants on Monito Island
A Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon Over the Horizon boat crew rescued 11 Haitian migrants on Sept. 7, 2024, after they were left stranded by smugglers on Monito Island, Puerto Rico, in the Mona Passage. The group consisted of six men and five women. They were transported to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where Ramey Sector U.S. Border Patrol agents received and assisted them.
