Coast Guard Medevacs Man from Rudee Mariner Off Virginia Beach
A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 57-year-old man reportedly suffering heart attack symptoms about 18 miles northeast of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach on Dec. 1, 2021. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Virginia received the initial report at about 2 p.m. from the captain of the 75-foot fishing vessel Rudee Mariner, saying a person aboard was having heart attack symptoms. Sector Virginia's Command Center issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast, launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek, and launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration boatcrew also responded. The man was hoisted aboard the helicopter and taken to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, for medical care.
