Coast Guard Medevacs Injured Passenger from Ferry Kennicott
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew medevaced a 30-year-old male passenger from the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry Kennicott in Shelikof Strait, Alaska, on May 18, 2022. Coast Guard Sector Anchorage received the request for assistance from the Kennicott crew at about 12 p.m. The crew reported the passenger had multiple injuries to his head, mouth, and leg. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 12:55 p.m., hoisted the patient, and transported him to Kodiak, where he was transferred to awaiting Emergency Medical Service personnel. The cause of the injuries was under investigation.
