Coast Guard Medevacs Fishing Captain Off Hilo
A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point HC-130 Hercules crew airdropped antibiotics to the commercial fishing vessel Sea Angel on May 7, 2025, about 675 miles offshore Hilo, Hawaii. The vessel's 68-year-old captain had reportedly been experiencing severe abdominal pain, fever, and other symptoms possibly indicating an infection. On May 9, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point hoisted the captain from the Sea Angel about 80 miles offshore Hilo and medevaced him to Hilo Medical Center.
