Coast Guard Medevacs Crew Member Off Oahu Cargo Ship
Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point hoisted a 41-year-old crew member from the 892-foot cargo ship Ea Chara offshore Oahu on July 19, 2025. Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders received a call at 3:30 p.m. Thursday from Eastaway Ship Management alerting them that the crew member had reportedly suffered a fractured arm and possible head injury. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew carried out the hoist. The aircrew transferred the crew member to Honolulu Fire Department emergency medical services at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay.
