Coast Guard Hoists Surfer Off Bolivar Beach in 8-foot Seas
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a relayed 911 call at 3:50 p.m. on April 29, 2023, reporting a 20-year-old surfer was being pushed offshore at Bolivar Beach, Texas. Conditions were reported as 8-foot seas and 34 mph winds. The call also said his father was struggling while swimming out to help him. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Houston hoisted the 20-year-old, who was in distress off Bolivar Beach.
