Coast Guard Hoists Man from Cargo Ship Off Kauai
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point in Kapolei medevaced a 37-year-old man from the 547-foot roll-on/roll-off cargo ship Viking Emerald on March 3, 2026. The man was experiencing severe abdominal pain about 100 miles offshore Kauai. The aircrew took on fuel aboard the medium endurance cutter USCGC Harriet Lane (WMEC 903) before hoisting him from the ship.
