Coast Guard Cutter Bear (WMEC 901) was operating in the Eastern Pacific Ocean in May and June 2026 during counter-drug operations supporting Operation Pacific Viper.

On May 10, a Bear boarding team and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from the Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron interdicted a vessel suspected of drug smuggling. The helicopter was embarked aboard Bear.

On June 11, Bear's crew and an embarked Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron aviation detachment interdicted another suspected drug-smuggling vessel in the Eastern Pacific, seizing approximately 4,000 pounds of marijuana.

Operation Pacific Viper supports efforts to detect and interdict illicit drug trafficking in international waters.
