Alex Haley Tows Disabled Vessel 160 Nautical Miles Near Adak
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley (WMEC-39) rescued a disabled fishing vessel in the Bering Sea on Dec. 31, 2023, with eight people aboard. The fishing vessel Aleutian No. 1 lost propulsion after a line became entangled in its propeller. The Alex Haley crew established a tow in heavy weather and towed the vessel more than 160 nautical miles to safe waters near Adak, Alaska.
