85-year-old Boater Rescued Near Wrangell
An 85-year-old man was rescued Jan. 27, 2023, from a beach in Steamer Bay, Alaska, after he experienced complications while transiting to Wrangell. Wrangell Search and Rescue located the man. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Sitka landed on the beach about 20 miles southwest of Wrangell, picked him up, and flew him to Wrangell. He was placed in the care of Wrangell EMS in good condition. His 24-foot landing craft was secured on the beach.  ·  ·
