6 Rescued, 2 Searched for After Schooner Sinks Near Bahamas
Six mariners were rescued after the 90-foot schooner De Gallant took on water and sank about 20 miles north of Great Inagua in the Bahamas following a passing storm. The Coast Guard was searching for two others. A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-60 Jayhawk crew forward-deployed to Great Inagua located two life rafts on May 21, 2024, and rescued the six mariners. A USCGC Resolute (WMEC 620) small boat crew recovered the two life rafts on May 21 and located a life jacket on May 22.  ·  ·  ·
