35-foot Sailboat Towed Off St Marys River Sandbar

Coast Guard Station Sault Ste Marie towed a 35-foot sailing vessel to deeper water on Aug. 11 after those aboard reported by cell phone that it had run soft aground on a sandbar near Rock Cut on the St Marys River.

The station crew was already underway and diverted to assist. The boat crew put the vessel in a stern tow because of the water depth around it.
