18 Rescued from Ice Floe Near Catawba Island
An MH-65 Dolphin crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit spotted 18 anglers on an ice floe near Catawba Island in Lake Erie on Sunday, Feb. 6. The helicopter crew lowered a rescue swimmer and began hoisting operations. An airboat crew from Coast Guard Station Marblehead, Ohio, responded on the surface, along with a good Samaritan. Some of the rescued anglers waited on the ice for their turn to ride ashore in an airboat.  ·  ·
