Trying to Get Back into Drawing

Not drawn anything with pencil for a while. I drew this earlier today off a reference photo online.

Re: Trying to Get Back into Drawing

I've been thinking about drawing and painting too. With a few exceptions, I haven't lifted a pencil or brush for decades.

I recently sketched my cat as he was sleeping next to me. Nothing special. I just wanted to translate this 3D textured creature to a 2D line drawing, including a face I could recognize as his.

I didn't do any shading. I am good at shading but I use a different part of my brain for that. Shading for me is more of an algorithm than observation, and I wanted to limit this sketch to observation. I may go in and shade it in the future.
