Re: Zeppelin Accident Reported in Brazil
Huh. Looks more like just a blimp, though even they have a little internal bracing mostly to support the tail fins. I'd always thought zeppelins, as made early/mid-last-century at least, were basically entire nose-to-tail frames with individual gas bags inside/between, so the craft were generally not capable of wholly deflating like this one.

Re: Zeppelin Accident Reported in Brazil
The airship is a Brasil ADB-3-3 (Model 138S) and is Brazil’s first type-certified modern non-rigid airship aka blimp. (lighter-than-air, helium-filled) Derived from the US Model 138S design (acquired/transferred in 2018) Capacity of 6 seats & a payload up to 1.2 tons (used for training and promotion) Volume ~3,908 m³ (138,000 cu. ft) envelope Powered by a single engine. During the flight, an electric command booster malfunctioned, leading to an inadvertent actuation, which resulted in a collision with the ground. The nacelle got stuck on the roof of some houses in the city of Osasco, in the São Paulo region. There were only two crew members, both with minor injuries. They were rescued by the São Paulo firefighters and transferred to an emergency unit by ambulances |

Re: Zeppelin Accident Reported in Brazil
Witnesses reported it crashed. And then it bounced off Then it crashed again. Then it bounced off again. Then it crashed again. Then it bounced off again. It is expected to do it's final bounce/crash, by either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Rescue personnel are now reported to have been swapping on and off duty for 3 days, and it is hoped that when the crash finally is complete, they can step in and help. |
