Re: Video Shows The Sinking of MTS Oceanos

I guess he was of the same calibre as the dude who ran his passenger liner onto the rocks last year, and 32 people died. Same cowardly blood coursing through the veins, first to abandon ship.....

Re: Video Shows The Sinking of MTS Oceanos

Awesome video...too bad about the captain being a coward.
I hope he went to jail for endangering life etc etc. Asshole.

I worked offshore for 23 years, and everybody knew the captain was the man, he was ultimately responsible for everything on board.

To abandon ship, to abandon his crew and his responsibilities, was the LAST thing any proper captain would do.

That's what I was thinking the whole way through, wait for it, wait for it....
Those sound effects were actually the tape used in A Night To Remember, the most accurate Titanic movie.

Re: Video Shows The Sinking of MTS Oceanos

All that clanking and clunking is the ship being crushed by tons and tons of water pressure. Thousands of pounds per square inch.
Dude, no.... ...that kind of pressure comes deeper in the water. If that were the case, nobody would be able to go into the ocean, it would just crush you. The Titanic, for example, sit just about 2 miles below the surface of the water. The pressure down there will crush a man into the size of a basketball. Those noises were probably wind over the camera from that high up, or furniture crashing as the ship went more upright. Which I'd even go as far to say, filming the ship sinking from what looks like a news chopper, you wouldn't pick up most of the noises from the sinking ship.

OK, I'll chime in. Actually, that's the boilers and all of the engine compartments failing. The walls between each compartment fail - not water pressure per se, just pressure - they aren't meant to be wet, underwater, or sideways. That's the noise of steel buckling, boilers exploding and collapsing - think hot surfaces + cold water = BOOM. I'm a wreck-specialist scuba diver, and one wreck I dive has NOT ONE WINDOW in it from the explosion of water meeting the hot surfaces of the boilers. It is so creepy. All that metal is twisting in a way it was never intended to, and basically coming apart. It's a creepy, scary sound.

Re: Video Shows The Sinking of MTS Oceanos

not sure what's up, but none of these videos are working on this thread at all. I've tried about 8 so far, only 1 has worked. Any ideas
