Turbofan Blade-out Containment Test

This was a turbofan blade-out containment test, not an attempt to run the engine until it failed.

The test simulates a fan-blade separation while the engine is operating, typically by using a small explosive charge to detach a blade. The engine successfully contained the blade and fragments, preventing debris from escaping toward an aircraft fuselage.
