Titanic Stern Collapse After the April 15, 1912 Sinking
The RMS Titanic broke apart during its sinking on April 15, 1912, killing more than 1,500 people. As the stern descended, trapped air pockets imploded and tore the section apart. It struck the ocean floor flat, collapsing its decks on top of one another. The stern has since become largely unrecognizable as it deteriorates on the seabed.  ·
