Re: Shui'an Longting Bridge Collapses
When I was in China, we passed over some bridges that our guide said were built in the 1300's and 1400's. In the cemetery at Szuchou, there are some graves from western visitors from 1348. I always wondered how those bridges would stand up to modern traffic. Even the big ones were only built for horse and wagon carts, and foot traffic. They must groan when semis drive over them. |

Re: Shui'an Longting Bridge Collapses
It says this bridge was built in the 1960's, so it's not that old. Shoddy "Great Leap Forward" construction, probably.

"Great Leap Forward" vs. "Build Back Better"... no difference in socialist/communist Maoist leadership. Both idealisms doomed to failure at the people's expense. (No trolling outside of the water

Re: Shui'an Longting Bridge Collapses
I think the term is "structural humiliation"... it collapsed because it just couldn't stand having it's staircase painted into a rainbow.
