Restaurant Explosion Kills 1 in Koriyama, Fukushima
A gas explosion struck a shabu-shabu restaurant in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, at about 9 a.m. on July 30, 2020. The restaurant was undergoing renovations and was scheduled to reopen the following day. Police and firefighters believed a gas leak caused the blast. One person was killed and 17 were injured. The explosion also damaged nearby buildings, blowing out windows and signs across the block.  ·
