Remaining Surfside Condo Demolished Before Hurricane
The remaining section of the Surfside condominium complex in Miami was demolished ahead of an approaching hurricane, after a partial collapse on June 24, 2021. The controlled demolition was planned to largely avoid the existing debris piles from the collapse. Those areas were covered with tarps and marked off. People were still missing after the initial collapse.
