On January 9, 2018, a propane tank being moved on a platform truck fell after the vehicle rolled backward and struck a house in the Olivar de los Padres neighborhood of Álvaro Obregón.

The tank leaked and ignited, producing a fireball that swept through the neighborhood. No fatalities or injuries were reported, but the incident caused material damage. The accident was attributed to presumed negligence by the gas company employees moving the tank.
