Pakistan International Airlines A320 Crashes in Karachi

On May 22, 2020, Pakistan International Airlines Flight PK8303, an Airbus A320, crashed into housing near Karachi airport while approaching runway 25L. Official aviation information listed 99 passengers and eight crew aboard.

Early reports said the aircraft made several landing attempts and that the crew reported landing-gear and engine problems. In its final radio calls, the crew reported losing both engines and declared a mayday.

The aircraft fell short of the airport boundary and damaged rooftops in the surrounding neighborhood. Two passengers were reported to have survived. Military personnel, helicopters, and ambulances were deployed for rescue and damage assessment. Ground casualties were not yet known.
