On July 26, 2005, the ONGC vessel MSV Samudra Suraksha was sent to pick up a sick worker from an oil platform. During high tide and choppy seas, it collided with the platform, starting a fire.

There were 385 people on the platform. Ten were killed, 14 were reported missing, and 361 were rescued.
