One Killed, 6 Missing and 9 Injured when Shanzhou Fireworks Factory Explodes

On June 16, 2025, an explosion occurred at Shanzhou Fireworks Co., Ltd. in Linli County, Hunan Province, China, at approximately 8:23 a.m.

The blast took place in a single-story reinforced concrete structure at the factory, which was established in 2017 and employs over 150 workers, most of whom were outside the explosion zone at the time.

As of 5 p.m. that day, the incident resulted in one confirmed death, six people missing, and nine injured, with all injured individuals reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency response teams, including firefighters, police, and medical personnel, were mobilized to the scene for rescue operations, to treat the injured, and to evacuate nearby residents.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, and rescue efforts are ongoing.
