Oil Well Breaches Salt Mine Beneath Louisiana Lake
An exploratory oil drilling operation in Louisiana miscalculated the location of a salt mine beneath a lake bed and breached the mine workings. Water from the lake drained into the mine. The drilling derrick, the mine, the lake, and several barges were reported as total losses.
