Re: Molten Steel Accident

I had a similar experience this morning when my cup of tea spilt all over my bed.

Re: Molten Steel Accident

Never mind the damage, how the hell do you clean that up after it solidifies?
Normally molten metal doesn't stick to anything. (Except human flesh). When I spill some, I just pick it up after it cools. This happens nearly every time you pour. Normally, some excess rolls off the top of the mold, and lands on the ground or the cement. It's actually like you dropped cookie dough, and then it sets into a glob. But in this case, it looks like it poured under equipment and into a trench or passage in the concrete floor, so it's going to be a major project to break it up and get it out of there. (Also, my spills are a couple ounces, and not an entire ladle of molten metal. I've never spilled one of my crucibles, and I hope I never do.) (8 lbs of aluminum, or about 30 lbs of brass or bronze)
