Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Huge Water Tank Goes Wrong

This was a construction, not dismantling. I'll suppose that they had a hydraulic pump failure, that's why the motor was revving. They realized they weren't going to keep it suspended long enough to set it and tried to lower it. The operator couldn't clear the supports or didn't realize his outriggers wouldn't support the weight in that direction.

Why the hell, in the 2d vid, that dumbass stayed between the crane and tower is clueless.

A clogged fuel filter would keep the engine from keeping a steady rpm.

Felipe: Hey Jairo, did you remember to drain the water out of that tank?

Jairo: Me? I thought YOU were supposed to do that.

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Huge Water Tank Goes Wrong

No it sounded like the crane had a problem, like the hyrdalic pump failed. I bet there was still water in the vessel also. Look at the boom, you an see its bent over and stressed. The operator boomed it over and the weight got the leverage on the Crain. Like I said there was probably still water in it, some boss didn't know or didn't tell the Crain operator.

Re: Mobile Crane Lifting Huge Water Tank Goes Wrong

I don't know gi joe, I think they were taking that thing down, that's how they do it, they rig the top, put pressure on it and some brave dude cuts the steel with a torch. I've seen it done, I'm an industrial electrician, I just saw some boys doing a even bigger vessel this past winter at a nasty ass rendering plant. I remember thinking I wouldn't want to be the cutter.
