Illegal Propane Tank Explodes at Brazilian Fuel Station
On March 17, 2022, a car exploded while being refueled at a fuel station in Brazil. The vehicle's natural-gas tank was legal, but it had an illegal propane tank connected in parallel. The reported cause was that the valve between the systems was left open during natural-gas refueling, allowing high-pressure gas into the lower-pressure propane tank until it ruptured.
