Great Heck Train Crash Kills 10 After Car Blocks Main Line
In 2001, an InterCity passenger train derailed at Great Heck, North Yorkshire, after striking a car that was stuck on the East Coast Main Line. The derailed train then collided head-on with an oncoming freight train. Ten people died.  ·
