Giant Sinkhole Swallows Street in Madera
A large part of the road in Madera collapsed Monday, April 11, 2016. Police said it wasn't known what caused the damage but that it was likely due to the recent rains. The hole was 15 to 20 feet deep, collapsing down to a sewage line. Schnoor Street between Howard Road and 5th Street in Madera was closed Monday after a sinkhole opened up in the middle of the roadway, police said. The Madera Police Department posted a video and photos on its Facebook page showing about a 12 foot by 15 foot section of pavement collapsing. The hole is about 15 to 20 feet deep. It is not known what caused the roadway to collapse, but the police department said the recent rain may be the cause. The road is expected to be closed for an extended period for repairs. |

Re: Giant Sinkhole Swallows Street in Madera
There was something just like that just one street over from my house a few months ago. Those things are probably more common than you think.
