Freight Train Rear-ends Passenger Train at Bhairab, Bangladesh
A freight train ran into the back of a passenger train at Bhairab, on the Tongi to Akhaura line, at about half past three in the afternoon of October 23, 2023. The three rearmost carriages derailed and two of them overturned, trapping passengers inside. Seventeen people were killed and more than seventy-five were injured. Early findings pointed to the freight train having run a red signal.
