They also said it had been carrying 60,000 vehicles every day for the last 50 years, so that is a LOT of wear and tear.

It was an expensive bridge when it came to maintenance and also the architect used concrete cabels for the bridge support instead of steel ones that are stronger and last longer. People already warned the city of the poor state of the bridge. first pic is of two weeks before the accident and the second from February so they did a lousy job on the maintenance. Also the mayor told the bridge was monitored more as other bridges so i guess someone that had to check the bridge was a moron doing his job. |
