Four-story Building Collapses in Salvador After Heavy Rain
A four-story building in a Salvador, Brazil favela collapsed on January 23, 2020, after two days of heavy rain. Residents had been evacuated the previous week, and no injuries were reported. The collapse came as the Navy warned of a possible cyclone. Salvador has numerous homes and buildings in high-risk areas, where heavy rains have repeatedly caused collapses.
