Fortaleza Building Collapse, October 15, 2019
A 40-year-old residential building collapsed in Fortaleza, Brazil, on October 15, 2019. Nine people and two dogs were rescued. Two deaths were confirmed and nine people were still missing. The building was about 2.4 km from the sea and had reportedly had structural problems for more than 20 years. Repairs were due to begin soon after the residents approved a 23,000 BRL repair plan the previous day.
