Firefly Alpha Destroyed After Loss of Control on Maiden Flight
Firefly Aerospace's Alpha rocket lost control and began tumbling during its maiden flight on September 2. A range safety officer remotely destroyed the vehicle to prevent it from falling toward populated areas. The cause of the initial control problem had not been disclosed.
