Failed Curb Causes Multi-car Crashes at Indianapolis NASCAR Race
On August 15, 2021, a curb failed during a NASCAR race on the Indianapolis Road Course, contributing to multiple cars crashing out of the race. Parts appeared to come off a car after it crossed the curb on the previous lap, but racing continued without a caution. The curb failure occurred on the next lap. After a lengthy delay of about an hour, the failed curb was removed before the restart. A perpendicular curb remained in place, and a car later went airborne after getting too close to it, causing another wreck.
