Deepwater Horizon Blowout, April 20, 2010

On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig suffered a catastrophic blowout in the Gulf of Mexico.

The incident, internally referred to by BP as the Macondo Incident, became a major human and environmental disaster. A mud engineer was among those killed.

Oil continued flowing from the well into the Gulf.
