Re: Cylinder Explosion Burns Driver Alive As Kids Watch
~ According to the video & the direction & intensity of the flames, I would say the propane tank was in the front passenger seat. ~ That is a bad place to put it such as in this case. ~ He probably also had the seat belt, tightly, secured around it, placing pressure on some weak spot next to the nozzle, thus causing a leak. ~ Whilst the cause of the spark was probably the metal seat belt buckle scraping against the propane tank itself, as the driver was unbuckling it. ~ Otherwise I would say it was something stupider, like lighting a cigarette, with a leaky propane tank. ~ Either way, it was stupid to stupider to stupidest. |

Re: Cylinder Explosion Burns Driver Alive As Kids Watch
I understand that people were trying to help by breaking glass but it just sped-up the burning process! Driver's fate was pretty much sealed after the initial explosion with airbags deploying immediately (possibly knocking the driver unconscious) & blocking exits for manual rescue. Of course the doors were locked from inside

Re: Cylinder Explosion Burns Driver Alive As Kids Watch
He did not die quickly, he was burned alive. There was no time at ALL for smoke inhalation to cause unconsciousness before the fire got him. My guess is the explosion probably flame broiled his lungs so he was already ‘dead’… And, once the van was full of flame, you should stop trying to save the victim… He would have had a much longer death… |
