Boeing 767 Glides into Gimli After Fuel Exhaustion
A Boeing 767 ran out of fuel over Canada after a fuel-calculation mistake involving two measurement systems. The pilot, who had glider experience, guided it to an abandoned airfield at Gimli that was being used for car racing. The aircraft was repaired and remained in service until 2008.  ·
