Beirut Port Warehouse Explosion, August 2020
On August 4, 2020, a large explosion tore through the seaport area of Beirut, Lebanon, after a major fire at a warehouse near the port. The blast injured large numbers of people, smashed windows across the city, and left a red cloud over Beirut as firefighting crews moved in. Buildings damaged included the headquarters of a former prime minister and CNN's bureau in the city. Homes up to 10 kilometers away were reported damaged.
