ALICA Capsizes at Ho Chi Minh Port
The general cargo ship ALICA capsized at Ho Chi Minh Port in Nha Be at about 9:00 a.m. on April 26, 2021, while preparing to sail for Indonesia. The vessel came to rest on the bottom on its port side, with most of the hull and superstructure above the waterline. Eighteen of the 54 containers aboard fell into the water, with some floating nearby and others carried away by the river current. A loss of stability caused by faulty ballasting and cargo distribution was suspected.
